FROM LINEMAN CANADA

Why We Built the Network

A national powerline network should make it easier for industry people to find each other, grow their careers and build workforce capacity.

FROM THE FIELD · CANADA'S POWERLINE INDUSTRY
A national powerline network should make it easier for industry people to find each other, grow their careers and build workforce capacity.

Lineman Canada is being built as infrastructure for the industry rather than as another standalone job board. Workers should be able to create one professional identity and use it across training, workforce opportunities and industry connections. Employers should be able to reach qualified people without rebuilding the same workforce information every time. Trainers should be able to reach the people and companies that need their programs.

The long-term goal is simple: enter information once, reuse it across the network, and let the platform handle routine connection while administrators focus on verification, exceptions, governance and support.

THE NETWORK

One Lineman ID. Multiple Industry Roles.

A single identity is the foundation for workforce, training and industry connection.

A Lineman ID is designed to become the professional connection point for workers, students, employers, trainers and industry organizations. Profiles can carry role, location, skills, training, qualifications, availability and professional information across the network.

Multi-role capability means a person can grow with the industry. A worker can later become a trainer. A company representative can participate as an employer while still maintaining an individual industry identity. The platform is designed to reduce duplicate data entry and make verified information reusable.

WORKFORCE

For Powerline Workers

Build a professional industry profile and stay connected to work, training and opportunity.

Workers can use Lineman Canada to build a professional profile around experience, capabilities, credentials, availability, location, storm readiness and training history. The network is designed to support career movement without forcing workers to recreate the same information for every opportunity.

As the network grows, employer demand, projects, training and workforce needs can increasingly be matched against worker capability and readiness.

EMPLOYERS

Recruitment, Workforce & Project Readiness

A better way for utilities, contractors and industry employers to connect with Canada's line workforce.

A better way for utilities, contractors and industry employers to connect with Canada's line workforce.

Employer tools are being built around real operational needs: verified company identity, workforce sourcing, project demand, candidate pipelines, recruitment, team readiness, scheduling and mobilization.

The goal is not simply to post a job. It is to help employers understand who is available, what qualifications they carry, what training is required and how workforce demand can be filled more efficiently.

The first controlled Employer Beta is now open to a small group of industry users so real hiring and workforce teams can help shape the system.

TRAINING

PowerlineTraining.ca & Professional Development

Training access is being connected directly to the workforce network.

Training access is being connected directly to the workforce network.

PowerlineTraining.ca is the training arm of the ecosystem, supporting online and in-person development pathways. Current development includes Powerline Foundations, Red Seal Exam Preparation, Storm Preparation and employer-requested training.

The broader marketplace architecture allows employers to request training, trainers to respond to opportunities, programs to be coordinated, and completed training to flow back into a worker's professional record.

CAREERS

A Clearer Entry Point Into the Line Trade

Students and future apprentices need clearer pathways into the industry.

For someone considering a career in the line trade, the hardest part is often knowing where to begin. Lineman Canada is being developed to connect career information, foundational training, employers, unions, trainers and industry opportunities in one place.

A Student Lineman ID can become the starting point for building readiness before the first job, apprenticeship or formal training opportunity arrives.

TRAINERS

Connecting Trainers to Industry Demand

Verified trainers can reach workers and employers through a structured opportunity marketplace.

Trainer profiles, credentials, proposals, awards, coordination, delivery preparation and completion records are part of the Lineman Canada training architecture. Employers can define a training requirement and qualified trainers can participate through a controlled proposal and award process.

This creates a clearer path between training demand and training delivery while preserving professional standards and accountability.

INDUSTRY CONNECTION

Unions, Referrals & Workforce Pipelines

Lineman Canada is being designed to work with the organizations already serving the trade.

Union architecture includes registration, verification, candidate referral, apprenticeship and training coordination, and controlled workforce pipeline access. The intention is to complement existing industry structures by making qualified people, training and opportunity easier to connect.

INDUSTRY INTELLIGENCE

Lineman Central

Workforce and industry intelligence should become more useful as the network grows.

Lineman Central is being developed as an industry intelligence and connection layer. Verified employer participation, workforce information and broader market signals can eventually help the industry better understand demand, capability, training needs and opportunity across Canada.

HELP SHAPE THE PLATFORM

The Lineman Canada Beta Program

Normal Lineman Canada access and Beta participation are separate.

Industry users can create a normal Lineman Canada account without participating in Beta. Those who want to help test new features can choose to opt in separately. Beta participants may receive early access to selected functionality and can submit structured feedback directly through the platform.

This allows Lineman Canada to keep operating normally while new capabilities are tested with smaller controlled groups.

CULTURE & GEAR

Great North Lineman Apparel

A line-trade network should also celebrate the people and culture behind the work.

Great North Lineman Apparel brings the cultural side of the network together through GNLA.shop. Apparel, work-inspired gear and future industry collaborations give the network another way to represent the line trade beyond the jobsite.

EVENTS

Trades, Demonstrations & Community

Industry events create opportunities for workforce connection, public awareness and recruitment.

The wider network also supports live industry engagement through trades events, demonstrations and community programming. Timber Festival and the planned Canadian Timber Trades Championships create opportunities to showcase skilled trades, connect employers and workers, introduce young people to careers and bring industry partners together.
