Lineman Canada Privacy Policy

Privacy and personal information practices | Draft for legal review

DRAFT FOR LEGAL REVIEW — This document is a proposed website policy and must be reviewed, tailored, and approved by Canadian legal counsel before final reliance.
Effective date: September 4, 2026 · Contact: support@lineman.ca

1. Scope and accountability

This Privacy Policy explains how Lineman Canada collects, uses, discloses, retains and safeguards personal information through lineman.ca and related services. It is designed for Canadian operations and should be finalized by counsel for compliance with applicable federal and provincial privacy laws, including PIPEDA and Alberta PIPA where applicable. Questions, access requests, corrections, complaints or withdrawal of consent may be sent to support@lineman.ca.

2. Information we collect

We may collect account and identity details (name, email, phone, account credentials, location, role and organization); professional and marketplace information (work history, trade level, qualifications, tickets, credentials, training interests, availability, job/project information, references and uploaded documents); transaction data (plan, invoices, payment status and limited payment data supplied by processors); communications and support messages; technical and usage data (IP address, browser/device, logs, cookies, pages, interactions and approximate location); and information supplied by employers, trainers, schools, partners or other users.

Do not submit highly sensitive information unless the Platform specifically requests it for a legitimate service purpose. In particular, do not send banking credentials, government ID numbers, health information, criminal-record information or other sensitive records through ordinary messages unless expressly authorized and appropriate safeguards are in place.

3. Why we use information

We use information to create and administer accounts; provide profiles, workforce, job, project, training, marketplace, payment, content and support functions; facilitate communications and connections you request; verify and protect the integrity of the Platform; process billing; prevent fraud and abuse; troubleshoot and improve services; comply with law; and send service notices. With consent or as permitted by law, we may send marketing and promotional communications.

4. Consent and choices

By providing personal information or using the Platform, you consent to collection, use and disclosure as described here and as reasonably necessary to provide requested services. You may withdraw consent, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice, by contacting us; this may prevent us from providing some services. You may opt out of promotional email using the unsubscribe mechanism. Essential account, security, billing and service communications may still be sent.

5. Disclosure and visibility

Your profile, listing, credentials, messages and other information may be visible to the people, organizations or audience selected by your account settings or by the workflow you use, such as an employer, trainer, provider, applicant or marketplace participant. We may disclose information to service providers that support hosting, analytics, communications, billing, security and operations; to business successors; and where required or permitted by law, including to protect people, property or the Platform. We do not sell personal information in the ordinary meaning of selling personal data for money.

6. Cross-border processing, security and retention

Information may be processed or stored in Canada, the United States or other jurisdictions where our service providers operate, and may be subject to access under applicable laws of those jurisdictions. We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards, but no system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described, legal obligations, dispute resolution, security, tax/accounting and enforcement, then delete, anonymize or securely archive it.

7. Access, correction, complaints and updates

You may request access to or correction of personal information we hold about you by contacting support@lineman.ca. We may need to verify identity and may refuse or limit access where permitted or required by law. We will respond within applicable legal timeframes. If concerns are not resolved, you may have the right to complain to the applicable privacy regulator. We may update this Policy; the revised version will be posted with a new effective date.
